Tonight’s specials, in your words

Updated

Problem it solves

The special is decided at 3 and the post goes up at 3:40, or not at all.

Best tool

  • ChatGPT (free chat)
  • Claude (free chat)
  • Gemini (free chat)
  • Copilot (free chat)

The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.

Copy-paste prompt

Write a short specials post and a one-line phone answer. Use only these dishes and prices. Mention an allergen only if I listed it. Do not say "limited" unless I said there is a count.

Restaurant: [name]
Specials: [dish, price, and a true description]
Count limit: [a number or "no scarcity line"]
Allergens you want named: [list or none]

Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.

Example output

A usable draft names the dish and the price you typed, in a few lines you could post and a sentence a host could say. No fake scarcity.

Tips

  • If the price is not final, do not post the draft.
  • Allergens are not a place to guess. If you did not list one, the draft should not add one.

Time saved

Estimate: the post is a couple of minutes after the specials are decided. Deciding the specials is the kitchen’s time, not this estimate.

How to use it

  1. Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
  2. Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
  3. Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
