Holiday hours in three places
Updated
Problem it solves
Holiday hours get posted in one place and not the others, and the versions disagree.
Best tool
- ChatGPT (free chat)
- Claude (free chat)
- Gemini (free chat)
- Copilot (free chat)
The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.
Copy-paste prompt
Write the same holiday hours three ways: a sign for the door, a website sentence, and a short Google Business Profile post. Use only the hours below. Do not add an event. Business: [name] Dates and hours: [list] What is closed: [list] Phone: [number or "do not include"]
Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.
Template
Door sign: [business] will be [open/closed] on [date], [hours]. Website: [one sentence] Google post: [short version] Hours field to type into Google yourself: [hours]
Download saves a .txt file. holiday-hours.txt
Example output
A usable draft says the same hours three times, in three lengths. The dates match. There is no party or sale you did not mention.
Tips
- Update the Google listing yourself. A post does not change the hours field. Check both.
- If two locations differ, run the prompt twice. Do not average them.
Time saved
Estimate: three versions of a fact you already decided is a few minutes. The arguing about whether you are open is not included.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
- Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
- Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
