Restaurant front desk answers

Updated

Problem it solves

Answers the questions your phone gets fifty times a week: hours, takeout, reservations, parking.

Best tool

  • ChatGPT (free chat)
  • Claude (free chat)
  • Gemini (free chat)
  • Copilot (free chat)

The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.

Copy-paste prompt

Write the answers our front desk gives for hours, takeout, reservations, and parking. Mark which calls go to a person. Use only this: [hours, takeout rule, reservation rule, parking, and the calls a person must take]

Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.

Template

Hours: [hours]
Takeout: [rule]
Reservations: [rule]
Parking: [rule]
Person takes the call when: [list]

Download saves a .txt file. restaurant-front-desk.txt

Example output

A usable draft answers those four topics in short lines and lists the handoffs. The Grok Bot for this job is not live. This is the prompt.

Tips

  • The templates page describes this job and says none of the bots are live.
  • Parking and reservations are where drafts invent rules. Type yours.

Time saved

Estimate: if you know the four answers, the draft is a few minutes. If the staff disagree, settle that first. The prompt will not.

How to use it

  1. Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
  2. Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
  3. Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
