Note to a past customer
Updated
Problem it solves
You have not talked to a past customer in a while. A note with no reason is noise.
Best tool
- ChatGPT (free chat)
- Claude (free chat)
- Gemini (free chat)
- Copilot (free chat)
The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.
Copy-paste prompt
Write a short note to a past customer. Under 100 words. One reason to write, taken from the facts below. No discount unless it is listed. No "we miss you" filler. Customer bought: [what and when, roughly] Reason to write: [a real update, a seasonal reminder, or a question] Business: [name] Do not offer: [list]
Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.
Example output
A usable draft mentions what they bought only in the level of detail you typed, gives one reason, and asks one question. It does not pretend you remember a conversation you did not paste.
Tips
- If the only reason is “we want money,” say the useful thing you actually have, or do not send the note.
- Do not paste a full purchase history with payment details.
Time saved
Estimate: one note is a few minutes. A campaign to hundreds of people needs a list you maintain, which this prompt does not build.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
- Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
- Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
Where this came from
