Text after a missed call
Updated
Problem it solves
You missed the call. A text that answers nothing is still better than silence, if it does not guess the question.
Best tool
- ChatGPT (free chat)
- Claude (free chat)
- Gemini (free chat)
- Copilot (free chat)
The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.
Copy-paste prompt
Write a text under 240 characters to someone whose call we missed. Do not guess why they called. Offer two real ways to reach us. Business: [name] Ways to reply: [call this number / reply to this text / a link you actually monitor] Hours: [hours]
Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.
Template
Hi, this is [business]. Sorry we missed your call. You can [way 1] or [way 2]. We are here [hours].
Download saves a .txt file. missed-call-text.txt
Example output
A usable draft says you missed them, names the business, and gives two real ways back. It does not diagnose the job or quote a price.
Tips
- If you do not recognize the number, do not include private details in the text.
- Send it yourself. This is not an auto-texter.
Time saved
Estimate: the text is under a minute once the hours and the number are in the prompt. The call back is the real time.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
- Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
- Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
