Job post
Updated
Problem it solves
The post is either a slogan or a copy of someone else’s ad. Applicants need the work, the hours, and how to apply.
Best tool
- ChatGPT (free chat)
- Claude (free chat)
- Gemini (free chat)
- Copilot (free chat)
The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.
Copy-paste prompt
Write a job post in plain language, under 250 words. Use only the facts below. Do not ask for a photo, a date of birth, or marital status. Do not say "rockstar" or "family." Title: [title] Business and town: [name, town] The work, in real tasks: [tasks] Hours: [hours] Where: [on site address or "the shop"] Pay you will publish: [range or "pay discussed in the interview"] Must be able to: [skills] How to apply: [email or form]
Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.
Template
[title] — [business], [town] You will: [tasks] Hours: [hours] Where: [where] Pay: [what you will publish] You should be able to: [skills] Apply: [how] We will not ask for a photo or a date of birth.

Example output
A usable draft says what the person will do this week, the hours, the pay line you approved, and how to apply. It does not rank applicants.
Tips
- You decide who to interview. Do not paste resumes into a chatbot and ask who to hire.
- If you will not publish the pay, say it is discussed in the interview. Do not invent a range.
Time saved
Estimate: a clear post is a short writing job once you know the tasks and the pay line. Screening people is not part of this estimate.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
- Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
- Edit before you use it. Read it as an applicant. Cut any requirement that is not actually required to do the job.
