We got your application
Updated
Problem it solves
Applicants hear nothing. A receipt is enough, if it does not promise an interview you will not give.
Best tool
- ChatGPT (free chat)
- Claude (free chat)
- Gemini (free chat)
- Copilot (free chat)
The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.
Copy-paste prompt
Write a short email confirming we received an application. Under 80 words. Include the next step only if it is written below. Do not promise an interview. Role: [title] Next step that is true: [we will write either way by a date / we will contact people we want to interview / your real step] Sender: [name]
Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.
Template
Subject: We received your application for [title] Hello [name], Thanks for applying for [title] at [business]. [true next step] [your name]
Download saves a .txt file. application-received.txt
Example output
A usable draft confirms the role and the true next step. It does not say “we were impressed” about a person the tool has not seen.
Tips
- If you will not write to people you do not interview, do not let the draft promise that you will.
- Send it yourself or from the inbox you actually read.
Time saved
Estimate: the note is a minute if the next step is already decided. Deciding the next step is the part that takes the time.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
- Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
- Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
