Service-area page outline

Updated

Problem it solves

You serve a few towns and the website says nothing, or it says every town in the region.

Best tool

  • ChatGPT (free chat)
  • Claude (free chat)
  • Gemini (free chat)
  • Copilot (free chat)

The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.

Copy-paste prompt

Outline one page about where we serve. Use only the towns below. For each town, one sentence on the work we do there if I wrote it, otherwise a single shared sentence. Do not add towns. Do not claim a ranking.

Business: [name]
Base: [town]
Towns we actually serve: [list]
Work: [services]
A job we did that I can name: [one example or "do not name a job"]

Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.

Example output

A usable draft is a page outline: who you are, the towns you listed, the work, and how to ask for a visit. No extra cities.

Tips

  • A town you will not drive to does not belong on the page, even if people search it.
  • This is an outline. You still publish it on your site and you still answer the phone.

Time saved

Estimate: the outline is a short edit. Writing the real page and putting it on the site is more than the outline. I am not estimating a change in traffic.

How to use it

  1. Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
  2. Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
  3. Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
