Captions from notes on a photo

Updated

Problem it solves

The photo is good and the caption is blank, so the post waits. You want words that match the picture.

Best tool

  • ChatGPT (free chat)
  • Claude (free chat)
  • Gemini (free chat)
  • Copilot (free chat)

The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.

Copy-paste prompt

Write three captions for this photo. Each under 40 words. Use only the notes. Do not claim a review, a year in business, or a price that is not in the notes.

What is in the photo: [describe it]
Where: [town or "do not name a place"]
Why you took it: [one sentence]
Channel: [Instagram / Facebook / Google]

Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.

Example output

A usable draft is three captions a person could post. They describe the photo you described. They do not invent a backstory.

Tips

  • If you did not take the photo, do not post it. The prompt does not clear rights.
  • Pick one caption. Do not post all three in a row.

Time saved

Estimate: three captions are a couple of minutes once you have described the photo. Describing it is most of the work.

How to use it

  1. Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
  2. Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
  3. Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
