End-of-shift note
Updated
Problem it solves
The next shift walks in blind. You need three lists, not a story.
Best tool
- ChatGPT (free chat)
- Claude (free chat)
- Gemini (free chat)
- Copilot (free chat)
The free chat is enough for one draft. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and the free Microsoft Copilot chat can each do this. A paid plan only helps if you hit a usage limit. Copilot inside Word, Excel, or Outlook is a separate paid Microsoft 365 feature. You do not need it to try this once.
Copy-paste prompt
Turn these close notes into a note for the next shift. Three lists: what ran low, what broke or needs a person, and what can wait. Do not add tasks. Notes: [paste] Date: [date]
Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.
Example output
A usable draft is three short lists taken from the notes. The next person can read it in a minute.
Tips
- Cash counts stay out of a general chatbot. Put “drawer counted” without the amount if you need to.
- If something is a safety issue, call the person. Do not leave it only in the note.
Time saved
Estimate: the note is a couple of minutes at close. It is not a full inventory.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
- Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
- Edit before you use it. Read the draft against your notes. Delete any price, date, name, or promise you did not supply. You decide what gets sent.
