One-page sales and labor briefing
Updated
Problem it solves
Yesterday’s numbers are in a report. You need one page: what happened, what is risky today, and what only you can decide.
Best tool
- ChatGPT (free chat)
- Claude (free chat)
- Gemini (free chat)
- Copilot (free chat)
Paste a small table into the free chat. That is enough for one pass. Copilot inside Excel is paid with Microsoft 365. Do not connect a bookkeeping login, and do not paste a full customer list.
Copy-paste prompt
From yesterday's sales and labor numbers below, write a one-page briefing: P&L by location, today's risks, and the 3 decisions that need me: [paste data]
Replace every [bracket]. If you cannot fill one, delete that line.
Example output
A usable draft stays inside the numbers you pasted. It can arrange a P&L only if those lines are in the paste. It should label guesses as guesses, and it is not your books.
Tips
- This wording is in seed/use-cases.json under restaurant-ops-controller. That entry is not in the live directory.
- This is not a financial statement and not tax advice. Your bookkeeper’s file wins.
Time saved
Estimate: pulling the numbers is the slow part. Writing the page from a paste is shorter. Do not treat the draft as a closed set of books.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt. Copy the prompt on this page into a free chat.
- Fill every bracket. Replace each [bracket] with a fact from your own notes. If you cannot fill one, delete that line instead of guessing.
- Edit before you use it. Every dollar in the briefing must appear in the paste. If the draft computes a margin you did not ask it to show, check the arithmetic or delete it.
Where this came from
- Prompt text from seed/use-cases.json (restaurant-ops-controller). Not a live directory entry.
